This scholarship was established in honor of John Patrick Murphy who was a graduate of SHS in 1963. In 1984, John was working in Alaska installing power lines and was killed in a plane crash in Alaska while traveling for his job. John’s parents, (Eugene and Nancy) established the scholarship in his memory hoping it will benefit some students to enrich their goal in life. This scholarship is awarded to someone planning to enter training in electrical or construction field and can also be awarded to a Vocational College. When Nancy Murphy passed away her name was added to the scholarship.
