Snohomish Education Foundation Awards nearly $75,000 in Classroom Grants for 2015

Each year Snohomish Education Foundation offers our District’s educators the opportunity to submit applications for ideas that will innovate and inspire students in their classrooms and throughout the Snohomish School District. We are honored to have awarded 111 classroom grants totaling nearly $75,000 for 2015.  $69,000 of the funding was directly from SEF and $5,750 was privately funded.  84% of the applications received for classroom grants were awarded.

With the support of our community, families, businesses and community organizations these dollars were awarded to each school in our district (levels K-12) and will enhance the educational experience of all 9,800 students.  Specifically, these grants will improve programs in literacy, science, technology, engineering and math.

SEF began funding classroom grants in 1995.  Since that date, $532,000 has been awarded in classroom grants.  SEF continues to encourage our entire community to be involved in ensuring that all of our students get the education that they deserve.

The Foundation extends a special thank you to their esteemed sponsors that contribute to the success of all of our programs:  Saxton Bradley, Inc. (SBI), Mt. Pacific Bank, Wells Fargo, Sodexo, Boeing, Coastal Community Bank, Beresford, Heritage Bank, Kirtley Cole, Columbia Bank, Inn at Snohomish, Foster Pepper, Dykeman, Ideal Communication, Harvey Field, Comcast and McDaniel’s Do It Center.

  1. SEF – I wanted to take a moment and say, “THANK YOU!” Each year you add to the quality of our student’s lives. I appreciate the books you purchased for my classroom last year. They are stories that support math. I have matched those books with my lessons and Common Core to enhance my student’s education. It is always a blessing to be able to reach students using a variety of learning styles. I also received monies towards our Science (IDEA) lab. I’m not sure who is more excited, the staff, who get to teach with these Science supplies or our students ( future scientists.) Throughout the years you have always been there to support our classrooms. Thank you for being such a positive influence in our community.
